Hand Baggage Advice

Baggage may only be accepted if it is packed and secured in suitcases or similar containers and capable of withstanding reasonable handling.

Any passenger presenting baggage that is insecurely or insufficiently packed, or already damaged must sign a disclaimer waiving their right to any subsequent claim.

Checked baggage (carried in the aircraft hold)
Each passenger may check-in a maximum of 2 items of baggage, the combined weight of which must not weigh more than 20Kg. Passengers may combine their personal hold baggage allowances, although no individual piece of baggage may exceed 32Kg.

Infants have no baggage allowance/hand baggage allowance.

Hand baggage
The allowance for hand baggage is 5Kg (dimensions: L45cm x W35cm x H20cm), although laptops may be carried in addition. Each passenger may carry 1 piece of hand baggage - if you have a coat, camera or ladies handbag, this must be able to fit inside your hand baggage. Our regulations on size and weight must also be observed. Please refer to our Conditions of Carriage for full details. Children's pushchairs and car seats

Due to the lack of space on board the aircraft, car seats or pushchairs are not allowed in the cabin. You will usually be able to take the pushchair to the gate before it will be transported in the hold. Please check with our ground staff when you check in, if you are permitted to take your pushchair to the gate. We offer carriage of pushchairs and car seats (carried in the hold of the aircraft) free of charge.

HAND BAGGAGE
Your hand baggage must not exceed 5 kg in weight or 43cm x 28cm x 23cm in size. You can pack photographic film in hand baggage as low dose X-ray machines will not affect it. Items such as knives, scissors, tweezers and laser pointers may not be carried as hand baggage and these should only be carried as hold baggage. Any sharp items found in hand baggage will be confiscated. Only one item of hand baggage per person is permitted.

HOLD BAGGAGE
The allowance is 20 kg. Hold baggage must not exceed this allowance or charges will be incurred. Individual items of luggage must not exceed 30 kg for lifting purposes.

How much hold baggage can I take?
Normal free baggage allowance is 20kg per passengers, however Gold and Silver Vantage Members have a 30kg free allowance. The maximum weight of any hold baggage must not exceed 32kg.

Will I be charged for excess baggage?
Yes, L5 per kilo departing from UK or 8.00 Euros departing from overseas.

• Only one piece of hand baggage per passenger will be permitted in the cabin.
  
• Hand baggage must not exceed 45cm long x 56cm high x 25cm deep (approx 22ins x 17.7ins x 9.9ins) in dimension or 5kg in weight.
  
• It must be able to fit under the seat or in the overhead locker.
  
• In addition to the above, each passenger is allowed to take one normal sized carrier bag, containing duty free goods.
  
  
  HOLD BAGGAGE
  
  
• Most destinations offer an allowance of 20kgs per person (not including Infants). For exact allowances please contact your Tour Operator or Travel Agent. If you have booked with XL.com please call them on 0870 169 0169. Whilst you can join your allowance together for the entire party, your per person allowance must not exceed 20kgs and you must make sure that no individual bag weighs over 32kgs for health and safety reasons. If it does you may be asked to repack at the airport.
  
  
• If you are travelling in the economy class to any of the Caribbean islands the luggage allowance is 20 kilos and in the XLONE business class the luggage allowance is 40 kilos
  
  
• Excess Baggage will be charged at L5.00 per kg Short Haul and L8.00 per kg Long Haul and will be subject to load on the day of travel, this will be payable in local currency at a resort airport.
  
  
• Although Infants do not receive an allowance we are happy to carry one of the following free of charge: - Pushchair, Pram, Buggy, Travel Cot or Car Seat, we will also carry a small amount of nappies for carriage in the aircraft cabin.

Cabin baggage which is part of your total free baggage allowance, is restricted to dimensions not in excess of 55x45x20cm per passenger.
Passengers must be able to store their hand luggage safely in the overhead storage bins without assistance. Infants under the age of 2 years who have only paid the infant fare, are not entitled to a baggage allowance.

Hand Baggage Advice
Following the decision to downgrade the UK terrorism threat level, the following security measures will apply at all UK BAA airports.

Each passenger is permitted to carry one item of cabin baggage through the airport security search point.

The dimensions of hand luggage must not exceed 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22in x 17.7in x 9.8in approx), including wheels, handles and side pockets. This is equivalent to the size of a small roller suitcase.

Passengers boarding planes in EU countries are now allowed to carry liquids in containers no more than 100ml in capacity brought to the airport contained in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag - itself no more than a litre in capacity.

The definition of liquids includes:

Gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures

The contents of pressurised containers, eg toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam, aerosols, etc The following liquids are also permitted through the airport security search point:

Prescription medicines in liquid form sufficient and essential for the flight (eg diabetic kit), as long as verified as authentic

Baby milk and liquid baby food (accompanying passenger may be asked to test this)

Once through security, passengers can buy items in the departures lounge and take them on board.

To help with the security process, passengers are also encouraged not to include items which could contain liquids (eg bottles, flasks, tubes, cans, plastic containers etc) in their cabin baggage.

All laptops and large electrical items (eg hairdryers) must be removed from the bag and placed in a tray so that such items neither obscure nor are obscured by the bag.
