Guzelyurt
Guzelyurt is a small town in the western region of Northern Cyprus. This rural agricultural town is the hub of citrus industry on the island. A visit here can give you a taste of true authentic local life. The town itself feels like time has stood still, and this is true with little development in the region. While you are here visit St Mamas church, the Archaeology museum and natural history museum.
With so much fresh fruit being grown in the area, a visit to the local bazaar is worth a stop to grab the freshest produce on the island. Oranges, Clementines, Satsuma, Grapefruit, Watermelon, are popular here. If you time it right, why not visit while the orange festival is on, celebrating the local orange production in the small town.

Guzelyurt translated into English means "beautiful country", with the lush citrus groves we can see why. Local beaches are a short drive away such as YediDalga ("seven waves" straight translation) and Limlidi. Local historic sites include ancient Soli, Vuni Palace and the Bleu Mansion (fascinating old mafia home).
Local restaurants are authentic and traditional as they offer Tavernas, Meyhanes, and local fish and kebab restaurants. Do not expect upmarket establishment, but do expect great hospitality and local warmness from the people. As does the rest of North Cyprus, Guzelyurt is a calm place with an authentic experience.
Visit here for the culture and experiencing local life at its most preserved. Visit the great attractions and take in the slow pace of life. A must visit for an authentic experience. Only 40 minutes from Kyrenia it is well worth a day trip.
