Torba
The perfect day in Torba starts with a traditional Turkish breakfast of freshly cooked breads, chilled meats, local fruit and yoghurt, giving you a fantastic opportunity to try Turkish coffee for the first time as you watch the cobalt blue waves lap against the dock and pebbled beach. After eating, a walk amongst the slowly sloping hills and whitewashed houses will help you realise how aromatic the wild herbs are growing on the hillsides and upon looking back down at the bay you will be see how beautiful Torba truly is, as well as be conveniently placed for the best photos.
The hills also hold a range of old ruins and tombs tucked away that offer a small insight into the wealth of Torba’s history. For lunch, visit one of the many sea view restaurants and order a traditional meze for your party as a starter, and ensure that the seafood dishes are tried, as they are some of the best in Bodrum.
After, you can take a minibus to Bodrum, or a ferry which runs on a regular service between Bodrum town and Altinkum/Didim for the extensive shopping and clubs that are available. Gumbet, another club haven, is also close by so that although Torba’s nightlife is not extensive, there is easy access to all the best clubs in the region for the young or young at heart.
And if you go for a swim in the crystal clear bay, or walk on the beautiful beach keep an eye out for the sea bass and gilt-headed bream that call the water home, if you’re lucky you might even see a sea turtle or a very rare Mediterranean monk seal! But no matter what you’re looking for, Torba offers the best of the classic Turkish lifestyle; a blend of good food, lovely locals and beautiful beaches.
