Cesme
The name ‘Cesme’ means fountain, and refers to the many springs that were found in the area throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. It also fittingly describes the refreshing atmosphere of the cool turquoise waters that waver alongside the peninsula, defining the truly beautiful coastal stretch of the Cesme beaches.
If visiting here you will find all that you could want from a holiday area, with great accommodation, tasty restaurants, sports activities and other entertainment facilities. There is also the 19th century church of Hagios Haralambos, which has been restored as ‘The Emir Caka Art Gallery’. The fact that even many of the hotels are conversions from 16th century architecture allows you to completely immerse yourself in the culture of Izmir area’s past.
Relaxation is of course a priority, and you’ll find just that in the unspoiled bays for swimming and thermal baths that offer many health benefits. In your spare time you could also visit the shops, offering quality carpets, leather goods and souvenirs! Yachts can even be hired to explore the coastline.
If you fancied a trip to Venice then that’s an option too, with a ferry that makes the trip from Cesme on a weekly basis! Night time is no different for the range of opportunities on offer. You have a choice in many bars and restaurants and discos if you like a boogie. You really won’t be bored here with the offer to find peace and quiet, good food, history and a sociable atmosphere.
