Arrive at Istanbul and be brought to the hotel you will staying at. Experience Istanbul with the remaining time you have today at your own pace.
Today is about old Istanbul with all of its delights, from the Hippodrome to the St Sophia, Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar. We then move ontot see a carpet weaver and see them make carpets by hand. Learn what makes a great carpet and how this traditional handicraft is valued. Enjoy a half days optional Bosporus cruise along the amazing stretch travelling between Asia and Europe. Overnight stay will be in Istanbul city.
Day 3 starts early and departs for the Gallipoli Peninsula, scene of a number of hard-fought battles that took place during World War 1. Stops are made at Johnston's Jolly Cemetery, Lone Pine and Chanuk Bair memorials, ANZAC Cove, and to the various tunnelsand their trenches and that still survive to this day. Guests spend the third evening of their tour in the coastal town of Canakkale.
Day 4 of this tour takes its participants to the Ottoman mine-laying vessel, Nusret, and to Cimenlik Fortress before lunch. After a bite to eat, the tour moves to remains of the city of Troy, which is the scene of the legendary Trojan Horse – before returning to Istanbul for a final overnight stay.
The tour formally concludes after breakfast on Day 5.
As the Museum of Navy and Nusret is not open Mondays, the Kapatepe Museum will replace this.
