Itinerary
Day 1: Istanbul
Arrival to Istanbul, you can enjoy Istanbul at your leisure today.
Day 2: Old Istanbul City
Day 2 begins with breakfast, followed by an extensive tour in Istanbul, taking in the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace.
Day 3: The Gallipoli Battlefields
Day 3 takes you to the Gallipoli Peninsula, scene of a number of hard-fought battles that took place during World War 2. Points of interest include Johnston's Jolly Cemetery, the memorials of Lone Pine and Chanuk Bair, ANZAC Cove, Gallipoli Museum and at the various tunnel ans trenches that still survive to this day. Guests spend the third evening of their tour in the coastal town of Çanakkale.
Day 4: Troy & Pergamum Acropolis
Day 4 involves a visit to the remains of the city of Troy – scene of the mythical Trojan Horse infiltration. From there the tour moves on to Pergamum Acropolis and the structures that still remain – such as the Library of Pergamum and the ruins of various temples. The evening is spent in the coastal town of Kusadasi, where there’s plenty of opportunity to while away an evening.
Day 5: Kusadasi, Ephesus
Take in the history of Ephesus with our tour guide. Learn about the history of this ancient city and see Artemis temple, and theatre. After this visit the old Greek village known as Sirince. This is place you can taste the local fruit flavoured wines. The journey does not end there, as you will also get the chance to learn about Carpets and how they are woven. Did you grab a bargain at the carpet shop? Now you will know, as you will be taught what makes a good quality carpet, and what sets the price.
Day 6: Heirapolis, Pamukkale
The tour pauses to inspect local handmade leather products, before moving on again to marvel over the travertines of Pamukkale: terraced pools formed from carbonated mineral deposits. The day finishes off with a trip to Hierapolis ancient city, which dates back to Roman times. Visitors are welcome to bath in warm springs, valued for their therapeutical properties. The tour remains in Pamukkale overnight.
Day 7: Antalya, Aphrodisias
Today we drive to Antalya, visiting the ancient site of Aphrodisias enroute.
Day 8: Manavgat Waterfalls, Aspendos
Today, we will visit famous theatre at Aspendos which is known for one of the best preserved theatres of Asia Minor, still used today. Then we will visit Manavgat Waterfalls for a pleasant respite.
Day 9: Antalya
The tour formally concludes after breakfast.
