Many people travel around the world because they want to experience a culture so completely alien to their own that it expands their horizons and widens their minds. And some people like to do that whilst eating a full English. There are varying degrees of change in cultures when travelling and going on holiday and North Cyprus has a fantastic range. For those looking for something completely unlike Great Britain, you will most certainly be pleased, but not everyone likes to be completely taken out of their comfort zone, so here’s some small parts of traditional British life that can be found in North Cyprus for those that want to maintain some home comforts whilst on holiday.

A full English breakfast

There’s very little in life that is as hearty and reassuringly British as a full English breakfast, and although not especially common in the regions of North Cyprus there are good value breakfasts available. The best for value and taste are Bell’s Food Service in Karaoğlanoğlu Caddesi, a few miles along the coast from Kyrenia Harbour and Pia Bella Restaurant and bar that serves a full English on Sunday mornings. Inevitably there are many more all over North Cyprus just waiting to be discovered.

Newspapers

Many people find themselves a little bit lost while on holiday and although being cut off from everything back at home can be liberating for some, being able to read a newspaper is a comfort, if just to satisfy a curiosity about how things are back home. And for those of you who can’t read Turkish, or want to know how the United Kingdom is as well as Cyprus, why not buy a copy of Cyprus Today or the Cyprus Observer, weekly English newspapers that reports stories from England as well as Cyprus, for all those who simply can’t leave home behind completely.

But newspapers and food aren’t the only British staples available in North Cyprus, because of the large expat community that have moved to Cyprus, there are many English run or speaking businesses, societies and companies that cater to the English and English speaking residents. There is a Red Cross, an amateur dramatic society and English schools from nursery all the way to secondary so that no matter how long or short your stay you can be assured that if you so wish, you will always be able to find a perfect slice of home.
